There was a woman who wanted to see the world. She traveled very far from her home to England. When she arrived in London, her only wish was to see one ancient object. She went to the British Museum to seek it. The museum galleries wrapped around each other in mazelike fashion. The woman knew the object she sought was in Room 4. When she stepped into the long narrow gallery, she knew she was close. She scanned the room and quickly saw it – the Rosetta Stone.
She approached and took it in. The woman believed in God and saw His work in the stone. This ancient piece of rock, thrown up to the surface from beneath the earth by cataclysm, was then chiseled by human hands. A combined effort. It reminded her of Moses. She took in the meaning of the rock and was overwhelmed. She began to cry, rather softly with flowing tears and an occasional sniffle.
Her tears were noticed by a man standing nearby. He was a teacher, and he was surrounded by his adorable little British ducklings. He said to the woman, “Why are you weeping?”
She answered, “Because this stone is such a gift to us all. Because this stone has enabled us to become enlightened. This stone allows us to know who came before us, so we can better know who we are. This is the key to knowledge.”
The teacher turned to his students and said, “YES! Children this lady is correct – this is the key to knowledge.”
The woman left the museum with two of her daughters; she wondered for just a second if they thought she was a little crazy, but in her heart she knew they understood.
